Vayu — the breath of wind, the unseen carrier of scent — is one of the five elements of Indian thought.

VAYUÉ is built on that idea: a scent does not arrive until the air carries it to you. Each attar and fragrance here is composed slowly, aged in darkness, and released only when it is ready.

This is not a first impression. It is the first breath.

The name

Vayu is the Sanskrit word for wind, breath and life-force — one of the five classical elements, the Pancha Mahabhuta, of Indian philosophy. It is the invisible force that carries scent through air. The added é gives the name a French-maison lilt, placing an ancient Indian idea inside a modern, global fragrance house.

How we make it

Our attars are oil-based and completely alcohol-free, drawing on the Kannauj tradition of Indian perfumery. They are made in small batches, matured rather than rushed, and bottled only once the composition has settled.
